Girl on a Mission
These holidays we're embarking on the ultimate mission of empowerment and self-discovery. Our Girls on a Mission crew are bold, brave and brilliant--ready to make their mark on the world.
These badass babes are living their best lives, inspiring others and embody all things 'Girl Power'. FYI, you can do the same. We hope their stories inspire you to start your personal mission, and be the designer of your own universe--never forget, your power is infinite, girl.
I am inspired by women who have come before me, women who walk with me and the women who will follow me. I value gratitude, truth, people who project themselves in their fullest light, and girls who celebrate each other’s success. In the future I see myself in a lead role of a musical on an international stage. I also hope to be working with young girls on creating their own realities. I would love to speak in schools and encourage young people they are capable of achieving everything they desire. If I had the power to change one thing I would get rid of ALL mirrors, so people could learn to love the way they felt about themselves. Self-love is the foundation of everything.
My personal mission is to help people in every way possible, and to educate them on mental health and why we need to get rid of the stigma associated with it. I'm inspired by everyday life, people and beauty. I want to make a difference in people's lives and help set people on the path that was intended for them. I am proud of the fact that I travelled to overseas alone, this experience really opened my eyes to the things I take for granted. If I had the power to change one thing I would end sexual assault and domestic violence forever.
My personal mission statement is “break the barrier”. I love visiting new cities and people and understanding different perspectives. I want to break standards and norms and show people that I and other Muslim girls can do more than what they expect of us. I’m proud of my determination. I want other girls to know there’s nobody stopping you except yourself. Take the first step towards something and the next will come easily. If I had the power to change one thing, I would like to see more diverse women represented in Australian fashion and beauty, and media in general. More diversity means more acceptance and belonging.
I want to empower others: “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. I value love in all forms, my family, friend’s nature and growth. Love is the essence of everything! My career path has been influenced by my journey to Australia. My mother, sister and I came to Australia by boat during the Solomon Islands ethnic tension. Being in a helpless and desperate stated should always be met with support from others. Social Work enables me to empower others in any time of need and that’s my goal! In 5 years I see myself graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work and working with refugees. If I could give other girls any advice it would be: that you are the only one that can get you there, so believe in yourself, stay focused on what keeps you up at night and do all things love. If I had the power to change one thing it would be Australia’s refugee policies. Everyone has the right to seek asylum from war and terror.
My personal mission statement is “mean what you say and say what you mean”. For me, communication and expression is key to living out your truest self. I couldn't experience happiness without expressing myself creatively, verbally and physically and this shows through my relationships and work. I am inspired by music! For me it's one of the greatest forms of expressing your identity. I am motivated by my mentors and role models. I am constantly looking forward into the future and the people that have paved the way before me are a great source of motivation in my career. If I had the power to change one thing, I would cure the world of mental illness. I hope anyone going through a hard time mentally is getting the help they deserve. One piece of advice for other girls would be: take your time and be patient with yourself! Find your passion and chip away at your goals every day. You will love yourself for chasing your dream, no matter how big or small that dream may be!
My personal mission statement is “work hard, be kind”. I’m inspired by people who know exactly what they want in life, go after that and get it. I’m motivated on my career path by knowing that if I work hard, I can create the life I want for myself and the people around me. It also motivates me when I get so much positive feedback, especially from young girls who are saying that I inspire them or help them be more confident. And of course, it’s also very motivating to see so many other young women and men killing it in my industry! If I had the power to change one thing I’d get rid of discrimination of any kind. I find it so hard to wrap my brain around the fact that racism, sexism and everything else that falls into the category of discrimination still exists on such a massive scale. I do believe that we are moving into the right direction though, I guess it just takes time. One thing I would say to other girls looking to chase their dreams is that this is your life, you are in charge. It’s never going to be easy but if you work hard and believe in yourself you can create the life that you want. Always be open to change but never give up.
I am on a mission to love myself and be proud of myself! To stop comparing myself and accept my flaws! I will not limit myself in life or opportunities by doubting myself or my ability to succeed in whatever I want to do in life! I value honesty and positive energy. I pull inspiration from anything that makes me feel something extraordinary, whether that be love, a smile, a compliment from a stranger, new experiences, wise words from elders. I am motivated on my career path by people with large followings using their platform to make a positive impact on this world. I want to help girls and boys of all ages to love themselves and be transparent with the ups and downs of social media. I want to bring awareness to mental health issues caused by social media, and encourage people to use their platforms for a positive purpose. If I had the power to change one thing, I would make it summer all year round!
My personal mission statement in life has always been “everything happens for a reason”. My goals motivate me and my drive to be constantly growing in my career. I want to see growth in every step I take and know that I’ve learnt something new to ensure I’m getting better and better. If I could give young girls one piece of advice it would be to WORK, WORK, WORK! Nothing is going to fall into your lap. I believe hard work is the only way to grow and get yourself closer to your goals. It’s also rewarding when you achieve something you’ve set your mind. My purpose in life is to be a role model for young girls. I’m the eldest of 4 girls so I’ve always had a responsibility to lead and teach them, this has then shaped me into doing the same thing for others. I teach young dancers, so I try to inspire and spread knowledge in all that I do! If I had the power to change one thing, it would be the way Australia sees and supports artists. It’s a shame that the entertainment industry isn’t recognised and celebrated enough as much as it is in other countries.
I live by the words: change tomorrow, today. I value kindness and am inspired by the idea that we only have one life. Being present in my surroundings, and other individuals who are creative and motivated inspire me. My day-to-day happiness motivates me to keep going and continue seeking more. I truly believe that if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life. I live life with no expectations and put no limits on myself. If I could give other girls any advice it would be to stay true to yourself, and always be open to learn. Work hard and don’t ever give up, even when people doubt your wildest dreams. Keep your dreams alive in your own mind. Understand [that] to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. If I had the power to change one thing it would be that nobody would be without a place to sleep.
No one would go hungry. No one would feel unloved. That’s three things, not one…but I’m greedy when it comes to this, and all three are really about only one thing anyway–LOVE!
