Job Interview Tips

We're already past the mid-year point, which means summer hiring season is on the horizon! Whether you're finishing uni and looking to get your first job in your industry of choice, or on the hunt for a Christmas casual role—nailing an interview can be a little tricky! Here are some key tips for you to take with you to help you land your next gig.

Job Interview Tips
1. Use direct references

Research the company you’re interviewing with, look up their latest blog post, article, podcast, social media post—whatever it may be, referencing a current event, product or campaign will show you’re knowledgeable and care about the company’s interests.

2. Spring clean your social media

It's no myth, most employers will look at your social media before interviewing you, so it's worthwhile to do a quick cull of any content you wouldn't want them viewing. Hot tip: Instagram now allows you to archive posts without having to delete them!

3. Make sure you bring a copy of your current resume with you

Even if you don't get asked for this, it's better to be prepared than caught off guard! Having a print out or digital version of your resume on hand will show you're organised, and have had the forethought to consider all circumstances.

4. Schedule for Tuesday at 10:30 AM

According to Glassdoor, the best time to interview is 10:30 AM on Tuesday!

5. Dress appropriately for the occasion and the company you're interviewing with

If it's a fashion brand, showcase your personal style a little more, or for a corporate role, consider something more professional. Most importantly, dress in something you're comfortable and confident in! There's nothing worse than not feeling like yourself in an interview, after all the goal is to show them what you can offer—so be the best version of you girl!

6. Be knowledgeable, but conversational

The best advice we can give is: immerse yourself in the business, and prepare for all possible questions, but approach the interview like a conversation. You're not the only one being interviewed. You're interviewing your prospective employer to see if they are a good fit for you too! You should never feel intimidated, tell yourself you're worthy and be confident in your abilities.
